GROUNDING THREE PART BREATH
We will continue to explore the importance of cultivating a breath work practice to regularly ground into the body. A regular breath work practice promotes relaxation, strengthens lungs and immunity, can improve sleep and boost mood and energy.
The three part breath can be practiced in two ways, one breaking up the inhalation and the other breaking up the exhalation into three parts or three chambers of the lungs as felt in the torso. For the inhalation, breathing into belly, ribs and chest, with a pause in between each section and a long drawn out exhale. For the exhalation, breathing in a deep long inhale, followed by an exhale from the chest, pause, then ribs, pause, then belly, pause. These breath styles can be practiced for several rounds. Working to expand the lungs and strengthen lung tissue.
We will also dive into how to release stagnant emotional energy through gentle hip opening movements. Discovering the value in improved flexibility in the hips, for deeper range of motion and circulation and potentially injury prevention.
