FOCUS ON BEAUTY & AWE

Our Self-Care Tuesday group continues to be very rich and deep. This week we explored how to stay connected to awe and beauty even in moments of struggle. It may be useful to ask yourself what inspires you and to focus on the beauty around you. What we focus on grows.

Things that help

There are things that can help you to be more present and experience more awe which include pausing and taking deep breaths. Pausing and following your breath into your body increases your ability to notice where your mind is going, and interrupt any limiting beliefs that may arise.

How we get stuck

Sometimes we get stuck by giving away our power and focusing on what other people think. In some cases we get stuck and in other cases, the people around you may remind you of the beauty in your world, like when a friend walks into your home and sees the incredible view you have out your picture window; sometimes we take beauty for granted when we see it every day. The invitation is to see the world around you with fresh eyes.

Feelings

There's a very useful phrase that can help you to navigate your feelings, which is, "have your feelings and continue to function.” This means that you can get your feelings out and keep making dinner. Having feelings does not mean that you need to stop doing what you’re doing…unless it does. You will know whether it’s the time for you to hurl yourself onto the bed in tears or not.

Awe

There are many things that can evoke awe if perhaps your Rare child does not have access to their purpose skills. Maybe you could be in awe of their nonverbal mode of communicating. It is rather incredible to be in silence as you communicate through physical gestures. Awe is a mindset and you can access it by feeling the contentment of being alive now.

Tell the truth

You might even be in awe of yourself as you tell the truth to the people around you. Honesty can be awe inspiring. Remember that nature is all inspiring. What if you become a devotee of awe and surround yourself with beauty? What would your life be like?

Coming up next week The Places we Go When Things Aren’t What They Seem

We live in the black or white and the yes or no for much of our life. What happens when we begin to live in the AND? This state of mind can allow us to see the hurt and the playfulness of sarcasm, the gratitude of bittersweet and even the amusement of irony. While being a Raregiver™ can feel like an impossible task… things aren’t always what they seem.
